The increase was less than 3% in a single day which is considerable. Surely, it was more extensive than the level of Mac OS X Snow Leopard delivered, just 1%, striking the consumer satisfaction level to 65%.

Simultaneously, Windows 7 has also managed to keep its drive throughout the end of 2009. Till December 31, 73% of users confirmed that they were satisfied with Windows 7, which was a 14% growth. In comparison to this, Apple’s customer satisfaction rate only increased by 6.9% by the end of the year.

Microsoft has delayed the availability of the binary codes for Windows 7 USB/DVD as open source under the terms of GNU’s General Public License (GPL). Microsoft has shifted the entire blame for the delay on the testing team. Does that mean the company is not simply re-releasing the tool under open source license, rather modifying it and removing some part of the code? The information about the delay in providing open source was provided through company’s open source community blog Port 25.

It was mentioned in the blog that company’s resources are working hard to get the codes ready but some work of testing and localization is still left. Marc Rotenberg , the executive director of EPIC, said that NSA has dual mission of computer security and signal intelligence (in other words surveillance). He questioned letting NSA be a part of Microsoft’s OS development. Microsoft today indicated that its users can apply a subtle trick to undertake a clean install of Windows 7.

From a blog posted sometime this week, an employee with Microsoft’s worldwide partner group, Eric Ligman took note of some stories which enabled people to handle the less-expensive Windows 7 upgrade editions and install Windows 7 on blank drives. The upgrade install trick of Windows 7 was covered by Computerworld.

Ligman added that there had been various posts over a host of social media computers stating that a clean installation of Windows 7 can be performed by a Windows 7 Upgrade disc on a blank drive. He retorted to this saying that the basic piece of information was overlooked. Being technically possible does not mean legality.

The Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (WUDT) was pulled off from the online Microsoft Store since the program had a code from the GPLv2-licensed ImageMaster project. The USB/DVD Download Tool was earlier brought into being as a method for netbook users, without DVD drives on some of them on their devices, in order to install their machines with Windows 7.

The ImageMaster project has been intensely described as  a .Net C# application for reading and writing disc images. Kumar added that a lot of anti-virus software, for example Awast, is available on the Internet, claiming that it was equally effective and has the same service life.

Those in pirated Windows 7 business deny doing anything illegal. A shopkeeper not willing to be named said that there are over 200 shops in Naza Market. All have everything you want. They are not doing anything illegal as everything is available on the Internet, he said.

Microsoft seems to be innovating and re-inventing new ways to publicize its new operating system, Windows 7. This time, taking an inspiration from the success of  a television variety show hosted by Milton Berlie in the 1950s; it will be teaming up with ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane to produce and sponsor a show on Fox Network. While the inspiration was based from Texas Star Theater and its success, the show to be aired by Fox will be a 30-minute program scheduled to be aired in November.

The deal has been sealed between the two parties and Fox will air the show without any commercial breaks. The show promises to stress on the features of the uniquely branded Windows 7 programming with seamless blending with  the show’s content. MacFarlane has also roped Alex Borstein, his ‘Family Guy’ co-star, and the show will include witty references to Windows in jokes, songs and cartoons. The show title has been worked up and is called  “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show.”

It is not certain how much Microsoft would be paying for the privilege. A new product called Office Mobile 2010 is described as a “mobile companion” for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote and SharePoint in a presentation shown to partners. Microsoft has said that Office Mobile 2010 will run on Windows Mobile 7 and Windows Mobile 7 will be launched to manufacturing in early 2010.

In a recently concluded Intel earning conference call; Ottelini spoke his mind on the debate and gave the impression that its mainstream notebook business has an edge over the Netbook business. He supported this claim over a comparison in the sequential unit growth rate of notebook processors and chipsets over the growth rate of Atom processors and chipsets. While maintaining and accepting the fact that Atom and Netbook are equally important growth drivers, he however stressed on the point that notebooks have been the primary source of revenue growth and it will continue to do so in the near future.

He added that while Netbooks have seen considerable growth and the growth-rate is bound to further rise in 2010 over 2009, the flourishing market of notebooks will not be affected. In fact, he classifies Netbooks under the ancillary product category and not a mainstream product. For Intel and the industry, Netbooks serve as a “market-additive”, said the chief.

The suave CEO then gave his views on the new stock of ultrathin laptops which comes cheap and are priced anywhere between $500 and $900. He also made an emphasis on his company’s initiative to start shipping dual-core version products from the late last quarter. It may be mentioned that prior to this move, all units were shipped in single-core versions till date. He then finally took a dig at the Windows 7 adoption in business in a response to a query from an analyst. He highlighted the fact that a lot of corporations has generated interests around Windows 7 and also on the new Nehalem-based PC models.

Over the time, Windows 7 will respond much slower. And by the end of two years, the startup time for Windows 7 would increase to 330%.

There is no cause that we need to have particular updater applications for Windows, Java, Apple, Adobe, McAfee and others. At a Churchill Club sponsored dinner in Silicon Valley, the Dell founder and CEO, Michael Dell made a bold statement at a flurry of questions directed at the rise of Netbooks.
