Windows 7, the latest and the fastest selling operating system in history, has given adequate fuel to Microsoft to surpass Apple in terms of consumer satisfaction. A London based market research firm has said that in fact Windows 7 has beaten Mac OS X Snow Leopard in the race of satisfaction delivered to end users.

Windows 7, which was launched by Microsoft on October 22, 2009 has raised the level of consumer satisfaction for Microsoft to about 67% for the whole week after the launch. The increase was less than 3% in a single day which is considerable. Surely, it was more extensive than the level of Mac OS X Snow Leopard delivered, just 1%, striking the consumer satisfaction level to 65%.

Simultaneously, Windows 7 has also managed to keep its drive throughout the end of 2009. Till December 31, 73% of users confirmed that they were satisfied with Windows 7, which was a 14% growth. In comparison to this, Apple’s customer satisfaction rate only increased by 6.9% by the end of the year.

Since release, Windows 7 sold over 60 million copies and continues to receive very good reviews and great compliments. On the other hand, Mac OS X Snow Leopard received a variety of issues. Particularly, Windows 7 was nothing like Windows Vista, while Snow Leopard was given a name Apple’s Vista.

According to Microsoft, Windows 7 customer satisfaction level is more that 73%. Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer has said at a consumer electronics show that he is very proud to be able to say that Windows 7 is fastest selling operating system in history. But the most important measure of success is what the Windows 7 users think and a recent survey shows that the satisfaction rate among early adopters of Windows 7 is 94%. All of this is driving great results for Microsoft.

After being completely annoyed with Windows Vista, you will be shocked with the improved features in Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 7.

However, if you are planning to buy a new laptop then your waiting may get paid off. Consumer Reports say that January is a good time to buy new Windows computers. And it is the perfect time to buy computers or laptops with Windows 7 operating system.

Consumer Reports tests show that Windows 7 starts up and shuts down faster than its predecessors, but the step up is minor. And general performance of Windows 7 is also faster than Vista and XP, but only slightly.

The research firm has tested 20 laptops in recent times, evaluating features like ergonomics, battery life, and performance.

There are a number of reasonably priced laptops out there, but there is a caution by testers that you must beware of rock-bottom prices. Consumer Reports says that some computer makers use single-core processors instead of dual-core to save money and sell them to those people who want affordable computers. If you buy such computers then your computer might work a little bit slower than other computers.

For example, a 15-inch Acer Aspire, model AS 5532, costs for $330. Consumer Reports says that it is a good laptop for very basic needs like e-mail and word processing, but not for creating videos or playing high resolution games.

The survey says that there a lot of laptops with dual-core processors that offered good speed and performance for $600, or even less.

The latest and expensive laptop which is good in speed is the Toshiba Satellite L505. It costs for $530. It has facial recognition software, which allows you to log in into Windows by scanning your face.

Consumer Reports says that there is no need to upgrade if you are happy with your current computer and operating system. But if you are an Vista user then it is recommended that you upgrade to Windows 7. Most of the computer manufacturers are offering free upgrades to those people who have bought computers with Vista operating system from late June 2009 through January 2010.

Moreover, Microsoft’s software giant UK head of mobility, Phil Moore, has said that the company will not launch latest Windows Mobile until the latter part of 2010.

Yet Moore also said that the near release will also allow Microsoft to give the enterprise users and general Windows mobile users exactly what they want, which will include focus in adaptability of the touch base User Interface.

Microsoft’s verdict to delay the release of Windows Mobile 7 is perhaps not especially given that platform stopgap Windows Mobile 6.5 was launched to fill the gap when the seventh version of the mobile operating package missed its initial 2009 completion target.

However, great commitments related to a product release after 12 months are unlikely to help Microsoft’s position in the global Smartphone market.

With 46 percent of the market, the Nokia’s Symbian is at the top of the pile. The BlackBerry is with 21 percent and Apple’s iPhone operating system is with 18 percent and the Google’s Android managed to secure 3.5 percent of the market.

Given its recent track record, the fact that Microsoft launched new operating system on time tops this year’s look back at the goings-on from Redmond.

Earlier this year, Microsoft said that Windows would come out in time for the holidays and sure, it did. People actually liked the repaired thing. Windows 7 grabbed 4 percent of the market in less than a month which Vista took nearly seven months to reach.

Another critical launch for Microsoft was Bing, in May. Bing is not a Google-killer for sure but with Bing, Microsoft managed to grab a little bit of market share.

Microsoft knows that Bing still needs more market share. Hence, 2009 saw the company continue its chase of a deal with Yahoo, finally inking a pact in July.

Microsoft also started testing a new version of Office, which was first named Office 14 and eventually dubbed Office 2010. The new version of Office is scheduled to launch next year and it is most notable for the browser-based Office Web Apps that will attach to the launch of the standard PC-based versions. Microsoft had released a beta version of this software this year which has been noticed by a number of people.

Microsoft did launch the first crop of “Windows Phones” based on Windows Mobile 6.5, though that launch was seen as a largely minor interim step. Microsoft has been working for years on its Mobile OS, and hints are saying that it would finally launch Windows Mobile 7 next year at Mix event in Las Vegas.

Moreover, Microsoft is also working on the new version of Xbox which won’t come out until next year. Xbox made its debut at the E3 trade show; Project Natal uses a depth-sensing camera and other technology to allow a gamer to tactic the Xbox without a controller.

Another surprise move by Microsoft is that it is following Apple into the retail business. Microsoft said that it would open stores aiming to compete Cupertino’s glitz

After the European Union issued a unexpected elementary finding that Microsoft couldn’t bundle a browser with Windows. At last, Microsoft launched a ‘ballot screen’ which consists of all the latest and competing browsers and a list of their features. Users in Europe can choose and install a browser of their choice after going through features of the browser.

It is just a month after the release of Windows 7, still the popularity of Windows 7 can be imagined through the number of electronic device manufacturers that are trying to specifically design devices to be compatible with Windows 7. The new company to enter the race is Fujifilm.

Fujifilm has recently come up with the invigorating news that their new range of digital cameras is now compatible with Microsoft’s latest version of operating system Windows 7. It is a pleasing news especially for people who loved photography that more than 15 of the digital camera models from Fujifilm have gained Windows 7 compatibility.

Fujifilm had recently launched a new range of digital cameras which are technically progressive and superior in standard. The eminently engineered cameras have embarked their presence in small form factor due to their EXR technology and amazing technology to produce three dimensional pictures. To the delight of many people and impressive step from Fujifilm, these cameras are now compatible with the latest OS, Windows 7.

Kenichi Tanaka, the managing director of Fujifilm India, has told media that, Fujifilm is the company that invented digital camera and has maintained its market lead in this field since then. We have maintained our technical supremacy globally and have pioneered many technically superior, path-breaking and most advanced digital camera technologies from time to time, said Kenichi.

He also told that they keep themselves in par with all the latest technological trends, developments and technical changes around the world. With a lot of research and development work involved in this, they always stay a step ahead of other providers in this field. Compatibility of Fujifilm with the Microsoft’s latest OS, Windows 7, is just a live example of our philosophy. With this compatibility the professional as well as amateur photographers will be able to connect all Fujifilm digital camera models to their PCs.

People who upgrade their computer to adopt Windows 7 can also enjoy the compatibility of Fujifilm digital cameras to utmost convenience.

Taiwan’s Acer Inc has said that Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system which was launched last month has a positive impact on the year-end PC sales of Acer. Though the increase in sales is within the expected value, still Windows 7 has a role to play in it.

Acer CEO, Gianfranco Lanci conceded that when they came across the advanced and amazing features of Windows 7, they have already predicted that it will be good for PC sales. Acer is the market leader when it comes to low-cost netbooks and stripped down laptop PCs. Lanci also added that the company expected the sales in last quarter of the year to be flat and a 25% rise from the last year. Acer is keeping a quarterly revenue outlook and will be targeting a 15% sales growth for the coming year.

Other leading PC manufacturers of the world like Dell and Hewlett-Packard (HP) also registered a growth in their quarterly sales and of course, the credit goes to Windows 7.

Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer had also predicted that there will be small increase in PC sales due to Windows 7. They have expected that most customers will go for a new PC with Windows 7 instead of upgrading their plans to get Windows 7. Corporate buyers require extended compatibility testing and are hesitant to upgrade in their old PC. They are more likely to buy new PCs to accommodate the new operating system.

Since the day Windows 7 is officially released, every one of us is trying to put all the predictions to the test. While few of us decided to stick with the evergreen and trusted XP, most of the Vista users who opted to upgrade to Windows 7 are having a ball. So, if you are also a Vista user, then remember that you deserve something good also and should at least try upgrading to Windows 7 with the basic version once. Although all of us have read hundreds of blog posts and news about Windows 7 and its features everyday still to have a complete knowledge about it , one should try it himself.

Microsoft is selling an upgrade from Vista for $119.99 while a clean installation from XP will cost you $199.99. This is a major difference of $80, still a clean installation to upgrade to Windows 7 to XP is worth the cost.

Bill Gates implied that Windows 7 is one of the most premature things released by Microsoft ever, however, with the reaction being received there remains a very little scope to improve upon.

You have all the reasons to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 7. The only reason that might stop you from upgrading to Windows 7 is the better hardware that are meant specifically for Windows 7. If you are ready to wait till 2010 then Intel is coming out soon with the latest line of processor and Intel’s i9 will be the fastest of the entire set in 2010.

Intel said that they have Intel i7 now, but 2010 might prove to be worth the wait. Although Windows 7 runs okay on today’s hardware, having latest processor with improved specification is always preferred.

So, many tech savvy people looking for an improved specifications and better hardware have to wait till 2010 to upgrade to Windows 7.

Google has announced that the company is working to develop an operating system based on its browser, Google Chrome. The OS, simply known as Google Chrome OS, is an open source and initially aims at netbooks. The VP of Product Management, Sundar Pichai, said in a blog post that since the company is already talking to partners about the OS and will be soon working with OS community, it wanted to share the company’s vision so that it will give a clear idea about what Google is trying to achieve with Google Chrome OS.

Speed, Simplicity and Security are the three key aspects of Chrome OS as announced by Google. It said that they want their OS to be lightweight and fast that will help PC boot up in seconds.

Important point to note here is that Google will start the OS with netbooks, in the same way as Microsoft launched Windows 7 starter for netbooks. Google is focusing more on Microsoft’s core business just like Microsoft is focusing on Google’s. Google is confident that with the features the Chrome OS is going to offer, it will definitely appeal people to switch from Windows to Chrome. However, Microsoft Windows being the sole ruler of operating system market since years, it is difficult to predict how true the statement is going to prove, especially with the huge success of Windows 7.

Google as a brand name is very popular among customers and if Google lives up to its words then obviously it is going to be a threat for other OS system like Linux. It should definitely need something extra ordinarily good in the OS to affect the Microsoft’s monopoly in the OS market. As competition leads to improvement, consumers are always on the greener side.

Specially introduced for personal computers, such as home & business desktops, laptops, notebooks, media center PCs and tablet PCs, the latest public version of Windows 7 has unexpectedly acquired a market share of 5%. Released for manufacturing in July 2009, it became available for retail purpose only on October 22nd 2009. Within a span of 1 month and 13 days, this version of Microsoft’s operating system has achieved an incredible growth in the international market.

This news of increasing share of Windows 7 is well supported by the statistics provided by Market Share, which shows that Windows 7 has excelled the 5 percent daily usage mark. As per this report, it has not only topped the 5 percent mark for daily usage market share but has also marked steady growth throughout the month of November at a market share of about 4 percent.

The report also focuses on the continuous growth of the usage share for Windows 7 from the end of October to the end of November. Market percentage that Windows 7 has acquired brings a good news to Microsoft team as its predecessor, Windows Vista took several months or rather say years for becoming a demanded Operating System amongst the common man. Obviously, faces at Microsoft must be happy with the share that Windows 7 has acquired just in few weeks.

This market share report also discloses that other Operating Systems by Microsoft has lost some market percentage. It shows that Windows XP lost 1.43 percent of its total market share, while Vista and other versions of Mac OS X have lost .28 and .15 percent respectively. However, XP is still the most used version of Windows and holds approximately 69 percent of the total operating system market share. In the market of Operating Systems, Windows still remains the king and holds over 90 percent (92.5 percent) of market share.

Synopsis of this survey clearly reveals that Windows 7 is stealing market share of Vista. One more survey by Net Applications states that latest versions of Windows has already gained popularity over Vista. As per this survey, one reason behind the success of Windows 7 is the widespread base of RC and by August 2009, Vista had already lost 0.2 percent, where as Windows 7 grew by 0.3 percent.

The above-stated statistics says it all about the success of Windows 7 and provides a strong support to the fact that Windows 7’s acceptance amongst the global users.

A research market research done recently clearly states that Windows 7 is increasing its market share by manifolds. Rate of growth at which Windows 7 is gaining popularity is much more than its predecessor, Windows Vista. Vista took several months to set its popularity amongst the users, whereas Windows 7 has reportedly shown increase in its market share in relatively short time.

Users are even ready to dumb off their old XP boxes and are buying new PCs that are more compatible with Windows 7. There is not a single reason that makes Windows 7 a widely demanded OS, but it is a host of factors that users are not even thinking once to replace their XP PCs with Windows 7 PCs.

Listed here are few of them:

Enhanced version of ReadyBoost, which is a new tool that aids in booting of the computer even under a low memory situation and uses flash memory

Increased graphic performance

Detection of battery status with BattCursor

Highly useful mini-applications gadgets to keep you updated by providing access to changing information such as current time, weather, stock quotes, new feeds

Enhanced desktop to manage workplace in an easier manner

Further, this operating system is available at the most economical prices, which again makes Windows 7 one of the most rapidly increasing OS on the world. If you are a professional, upgrading your systems to Windows 7 will cost you approximately $200, where as The Home Premium is available at $120.

Owner of Microsoft, Bill Gates, in an interview said that Windows 7 is a “user-centric” operating system and would focus on performance improvements. Keeping to his words, Windows 7 launched by Microsoft is user friendly OS with advanced features.

Some of the features are as follows:

Touch and handwriting recognition

Support for virtual hard disks

Improved performance on multi-core processors

Improved boot performance

DirectAccess

Kernel improvements

It had been reported that within eight hours of its launch, pre-orders of Windows 7 at Amazon.co.uk surpassed the demand Windows Vista had in its first 17 weeks and thus, became the highest grossing order in online shopping history. Even the reviews of Windows 7 by the experts were far more positive and they even praised its usability in comparison to Windows Vista. Leading media companies and magazines, such as CNER and PC magazine rated it 4 stars and appraised this operating system as it has lesser compatibility problems, a retooled taskbar, simpler home networking and faster start-up.

Marketed as “Making your PC simpler”, Windows Vista provides the real value of people’s money and has helped Microsoft in adding one more star to its success.

Microsoft has promised that with Windows 7, it will provide improved battery life. However, there is still disagreement about whether Windows 7 has improved battery life or worsened it. It is a true fact that the battery information provided by Windows 7 is limited and it is difficult to conclude how the laptop’s battery is performing.

The group of people for whom having proper information about battery life is critical (for example, those who are in frequent business travels), have a solution to help them with battery life problem in Windows 7. BatteryBar is a software which comes both in free and paid version and gives entire information about Windows 7 battery.

BatteryBar is a battery meter which is simple and monitors the status of Windows 7 battery life in the taskbar. It captures the historical performance data and produces a more accurate battery life remaining estimate. There are few difference of features available in free version and paid version of Battery bar.

The free version provides the following list of features which is good enough to suffice the need of most of the users:

There has been an increase in the interest from enterprises in desktop virtualization, leading to the decreasing price of desktop virtualization together with the release of Windows 7. Raghu Raghuram, general manager and vice-president of VMware’s server business unit brought to notice the cost of deploying a virtual desktop that comes along with the purchase of new PC has reached parity. It has given a chance to many companies to seriously explore the Windows 7 desktop virtualization.

In the past, the server and the storage used to cost on back end. As a result, the cost of deploying a virtual desktop comes around $1000-$1200 which is much higher as compared to the cost of purchasing a new physical computer. With the recent advancement in virtualization management technology and availability of cheaper server and storage appliances, the cost of virtual desktop has come down to around $700 and is predicted to go down further.

After the release of Windows 7, people who are upgrading or moving to Windows 7 OS are refreshing their PC and engaged in extensive testing. Many people believe that Windows 7 migration and desktop virtualization together will be more cost effective, and are taking this opportunity to pilot desktop virtualization.

Things about desktop virtualization are linear in Asia and the global trend may not affect this region, said VMware’s general manager for Southeast Asia. Windows 7 Desktop Virtualization is far more popular as compared to the number of adopters to server virtualization. Raghuram added that they are more excited about desktop virtualization as compared to server virtualization. NComputing, a virtual desktop vendor, said that India is a potential market and the company will deploy over one million virtual desktops globally by the end of this year.

Windows 7 is probably the most successful of all the versions of Windows Microsoft ever produced. Its huge sales to every group of consumers have broken all the records. Windows 7 has created another milestone last weekend when it passed 5% market share which is above the total market share for all version of Apple’s Mac OS X, as reported by a Web measurement firm.

Windows 7 powered 5% of all the online computers on Saturday and 5.14% on Sunday. The 5.07% average for the two days is higher than the 5% that Apple’s OS averaged for the 3rd week of November. Vince Vizzaccaro, the vice-president of Net Applications clarified that they are yet to compile the daily average for Mac OS X. It is not wise to compare Windows 7’s weekend number with weekly average of Mac. If you match the weekly average for Windows 7 and Mac OS X, Windows’ 4.14% share lack behind that of Apple’s 5% share.

However, Vizzaccaro also predicted that Windows 7 sales trend show that it will surpass Mac share soon. In fact it is resulting in a steady rise for Windows’ OS total market share. If the same trend continues for few consecutive months, that will be a significant change. The Windows 7 share is continuously growing since the first week of its launch. At the end of first month it accounted for 4% of total market OS share which is a big number.

Several officials from Microsoft including CEO Steve Ballmer have recently bragged about the record sales of Windows 7. He told media that Windows 7 sold twice as many copies than any other Microsoft OS in the same time frame. However, he declined to reveal the exact figures.

Despite being released in a more challenging economic time, Microsoft’s latest operating system Windows 7 is selling at a much faster pace than its predecessor Vista. Microsoft’s chief executive, Steve Ballmer, informed in the annual share holder meeting of Microsoft that Windows 7 has sold twice as much copy as of Windows Vista in its first month. Statistics says that instead of bad reviews Vista sold about 20 million copies in first month which gives us an idea that, according to Ballmer statement, Windows 7 must have sold more than 40 million copies in its first month. In fact according to a market tracker NPD, Windows 7 sold 239% over Vista.

At Microsoft’s annual meeting, Ballmer told that Windows 7 has given Microsoft the power to get back the customers who have adopted Mac OSX. In the down economy, Mac OS is costlier as compared to Windows for the same PC. He also added that young people who are usually fond of Mac OS will outgrow their feeling as a result of the influential marketing strategy of Windows 7 and some people will do that as a phase of life

The statistics from New Zealand’s two highly traffic Website (NBR.co.nz and Trademe-easily) will give you a fair idea about the market share of different OS. The amazing thing is the consistency of Windows XP since long.

One of the leading software solution provider companies, Wipro, announced on Wednesday that it has developed a new product which can help its clients to easily migrate to the newly launched OS, Windows 7, in a cost-efficient manner. The Wipro Desktop Deployment solution is the tool that will help the companies migrating their tools and applications to the new Windows 7 operating system.

It is almost a month since Windows 7 was launched. Since then a lot of companies as well as individuals are migrating to Windows 7. Although Windows 7 supports the XP drivers and applications, migrating few high-end applications from other versions of Windows to Windows 7 is a costly affair. In such a scenario, the Wipro Desktop Deployment solution will help companies in easy migration of tools and applications to Windows 7 and in a cost-efficient manner.

Scott Woodgate, Microsoft’s corporate director for Windows product management, told media that Wipro and Microsoft worked in close association and came up with Wipro’s Desktop Deployment solution so that it can help businesses in migrating to Windows 7. The Wipro desktop deployment solution provides various functionalities like inventory analysis, validation and remediation.

Wipro has already deployed this desktop deployment solution to more than 20 enterprises and it was found that the customers are achieving more than 20% cost benefits.

windows 7

Microsoft has delayed the availability of the binary codes for Windows 7 USB/DVD as open source under the terms of GNU’s General Public License (GPL). Microsoft has shifted the entire blame for the delay on the testing team. Does that mean the company is not simply re-releasing the tool under open source license, rather modifying it and removing some part of the code? The information about the delay in providing open source was provided through company’s open source community blog Port 25.

It was mentioned in the blog that company’s resources are working hard to get the codes ready but some work of testing and localization is still left. Microsoft aims to release the tool in all languages simultaneously. It has asked people to be patient and wait for the Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to be available once again.

Microsoft confirmed last week that the download tool of Windows 7 USB/DVD from online Microsoft store violates the term for free software license as by GPL. The main problem was that Microsoft released the tool (which used open source code) under a closed source license.

Microsoft removed the Windows 7 USB/DVD tool from its store website around two weeks ago after it was reported that the tool that incorporated open source code violates GPL.

In just one month from its launch, the spread of Window 7 is much higher i.e. around 10 times faster as compared to Windows Vista. Expansion of Windows 7 is much faster than expected in both enterprise market and consumer market. A Korean reseller company said that the market share of the Windows 7 computers have exceeded 70% not only in online market but in offline market as well. Statistics says that the market share will exceed 90% by the end of this year which was just 5% for Vista in the given duration.

Scenario is not much different in the global market as well. Within just 18 days after the launch of Windows 7, it occupied 4% of the entire OS market. Vista reached the same statistics after 6 months. Microsoft’s most versions of Windows OS were first expanded in enterprise market. On the contrary Windows 7 is getting more popular among the general consumers. The Korean branch of Microsoft reported that it sold out 4000 copies of Windows 7 in one month.

Since Windows 7 has no limitation of high-end PC, more and more consumers are installing the full package product through retailers as said by team chief at Intech and Company. General public want to upgrade to Windows 7. As compared to Vista, sales of Windows 7 are twice higher around the world.

Steve Ballmer declared about the shooting sales of Windows 7 operating system. However, he has not revealed any sales figure. In the same meeting the announcement for the beta version of Microsoft Office 2010 is also announced. A number of proposals from Microsoft including the economic downturns and employees layoff was also announced in the annual shareholder meeting in Bellevue.

Apple store was down few months ago as it was preparing the launch of new product line up from Apple. Everybody was anxious and were waiting to see what Apple has in store for them this time. Finally, the wait is over and Apple has introduced a series of product including Mac Mini’s with more memory , new designed Macbooks and the revolutionary multi-touch technology Magic Mouse

The Apple Magic Mouse introduced iPhone style touch capabilities for the first time in the world of mice. This multi-touch technology mice sensation soon became very popular. However, much to the disappointment of Windows users, magic mouse is not supported by Windows operating system. Since magic mouse was officially launched to be supported by Mac users only, PC running with Windows were left out as there was no other multi-touch capable mouse was available in the mice market.

The wait for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 user is finally over. Developers have finally managed to hack the driver and it is now possible to run magic mouse in Windows 7 as well other version of Windows. This was possible because of the update of Blue tooth driver by Apple. It was because of the update that hackers were able to extract two .exe files and give the privilege to Windows 7 user to enjoy the first multi-touch magic mouse on their PC.

According to Apple’s press release the officials thanked the hackers for the hacking from Apple’s bluetooth update. They informed that the Magic mouse driver was extracted via WinRar which resulted in 32 and 64 bit version that can be installed in any Windows 7 PC.

Now, Windows 7 users can also enjoy the scrolling magic of the magic mouse.

Microsoft officially responded to the news of Google releasing the Google Chrome operating system as open source to developers on November 20.

Microsoft officially responded to the news of Google releasing the Google Chrome operating system as open source to developers on November 20. We have to wait for at least another one year before the Chrome OS will be available to end users. Chrome OS’s main target will be netbooks that works with always-on-data connection. It will allow launching and running of applications from cloud for browser based operating systems. Applications will be stored in cloud and will be accessed from Google Chrome Web browser.

With still a long duration left for the Google Chrome to launch, Microsoft is already citing Windows 7 as the best alternative for working on both desktop and the Web. From the open source which was shared by Microsoft it is predicted that Google Chrome is still in its early stages of development. Microsoft spokesperson told in an interview with eWeek that they are already receiving approval from clients on the way Windows 7 works across Web and desktop and on all different sizes and different types of PCs. He also suggested proudly that Windows 7 has sold twice as many units of pre-installed and boxed software as compared to any other Windows operating system in a given time frame. However, he declined to reveal the exact figures on sales.

In the short time of release of Windows 7, it has given reason to Microsoft to believe that it will maintain primacy in the operating system market. Statistics show that Windows 7 has already occupied 4% of market share by Nov 9 which is much higher as compared to Vista. However, the rising use of cloud computing and browser-based OS like Chrome have the potential to affect the OS market in long term. The main factor which might result in Chrome’s retard among business users is that chrome will apparently not support the traditional desktop.

Microsoft has entered the hardware industry and teamed up with Acer to design a Windows 7 laptop created according to Windows 7 specifications. It is speculated that the laptop comes after the arch-rival Apple launched Apple multi touch-screen tablet.

Microsoft’s president of Windows and Windows Live, Steven Sinofsky has been promoting the advanced features of Windows 7 to various hardware developers like Sony. His aim is to make people familiar about the new API’s in Windows 7 and improve user experience with it. Sinofsky said that during the building of Windows 7, they were curious to be associated with making of a hardware.

Microsoft and Acer have been working in association since past three months and had come up with the so called “Tablet PC – Microsoft PDC Edition”. Sinfosky said that the laptop was not much focused on industrial design rather it was an attempt to make developers familiar about the new API’s in Windows 7. It is a low-price way to do that. He also said that during the making of Windows 7 Acer laptop, Microsoft learned a lot about hardware, touchscreen and the difficulty associated in its production.

The laptop is loaded with office 2010 and visualization software and is called as the device for the developers. It is the Windows 7PDC laptop said Sinfosky.

The laptop specifications and price for the general public is yet not revealed to public. However both Microsoft and Acer are delighted to develop the device and gave it a grand launch by distributing it free to the 5000 delegates present in the launching ceremony of the Windows 7 Acer Laptop.

Microsoft has denied that it has built any backdoor in Windows 7. This story came into picture after a senior NSA (National Security Agency) Official stated before congress that NSA had worked on Windows 7 operating System.

Marc Rotenberg , the executive director of EPIC, said that NSA has dual mission of computer security and signal intelligence (in other words surveillance). He questioned letting NSA be a part of Microsoft’s OS development. He raised a concern regarding companies like Microsoft and wanted to clarify if they are forced by NSA people to include code which would let them track users and their communication. He believes that it is difficult for any major software developer to put down NSA’s suggestion as U.S federal government is an important customer.

Microsoft further clarified the issue and explained the participation of NSA in making Windows 7. Microsoft’s Spokeswomen said that the work being discussed is in compliance with Security Compliance Management Toolkit. The toolkit was launched shortly after the launch of Windows 7. It provides a set of security configurations to address higher level of risk and monitor configuration drift. It is meant for large organizations and government agencies.

Security researchers believe that brand name like Microsoft will not put its reputation under such risk. People agreed that Microsoft and NSA could not do any such thing deliberately. They could not put their hard earned reputation under stake knowing that consequences can be severe, if caught. They said that the concerns are overrated.

Microsoft assure of complete transparency about the arrangements and asked people to act cool regarding the issue. However, the association of Microsoft with NSA to promote computer security is still raising questions.

Microsoft today indicated that its users can apply a subtle trick to undertake a clean install of Windows 7.

From a blog posted sometime this week, an employee with Microsoft’s worldwide partner group, Eric Ligman took note of some stories which enabled people to handle the less-expensive Windows 7 upgrade editions and install Windows 7 on blank drives. The upgrade install trick of Windows 7 was covered by Computerworld.

Ligman added that there had been various posts over a host of social media computers stating that a clean installation of Windows 7 can be performed by a Windows 7 Upgrade disc on a blank drive. He retorted to this saying that the basic piece of information was overlooked. Being technically possible does not mean legality.

So in order to deploy upgrade media to install Windows 7 on a blank hard drive, users must stick by the operating system’s EULA, or end-user licensing agreement. For an upgrade one must first be licensed for the software which is eligible for the upgrade. Users may discard the software after the upgrade.

This is in consonance with the fact that users must have a full retail license of Windows XP or Vista, or taken that the Windows 7 upgrade is enabled to an existing PC, that the upgrade is undertaken on that same computer, which has a so-called “OEM” license connected to it.

Many own the Windows licenses that make the grade for the Windows 7 Upgrade, therefore this matter is a non-issue for these users. For those who possess the earlier version Full Windows license and qualify for the Windows 7 Upgrade have every right to undertake the clean installation.

Ligman also added that PCs which have been purchased with Windows XP or Vista already pre-installed by the computer maker, the users can install a Windows 7 Upgrade edition on the same system on it’s blank hard drive. This is not possible on any other computer. The PCs which come pre-installed with the aforementioned OS’s have an OEM license of Windows on the computer.

The license is a valid one; therefore an upgrade coupled up with an OEM license can get a user the upgraded version. In a retort to the statements passed by Ligman, a spokeswoman from Microsoft validated his account on the availability to deploy the upgrade media. It comes at a price of less than $100 then the “full” version. But she stressed on the need for a clean install while upgrading as long as the upgrade is a computer which has the Windows XP or Vista already running on the computer.

In a significant development, software giant, Microsoft, has made a decision to pull its Windows 7 for Netbooks downloading tool. This will be enabled from an online store. This step is touted by some analysts in response to accusations that code for the tool was ripped off from a CodePlex-hosted open-source project. The Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (WUDT), which was the original program, came into being with an intention to help Microsoft make the most out of netbooks’ perennial popularity among consumers.

The Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (WUDT) was pulled off from the online Microsoft Store since the program had a code from the GPLv2-licensed ImageMaster project. The USB/DVD Download Tool was earlier brought into being as a method for netbook users, without DVD drives on some of them on their devices, in order to install their machines with Windows 7.

The ImageMaster project has been intensely described as a .Net C# application for reading and writing disc images. Microsoft decided to pull the WUDT from the offerings on the Microsoft Store, even though the “Windows 7 for Netbooks” page still tends to be active without an “Add to Cart” link. It can be recalled that WUDT was initially targeted to make porting Windows 7 onto netbooks a simple process. Netbook users sans DVD drivers can be in a tricky situation.

For them the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool will click an ISO image and then make a bootable UDB device which can be used to install Windows. Also, users have to configure their netbook’s BIOS before it can be booted off that USB device or external DVD player.Even though netbooks are popular Redmond said in public that “ultra-thins” have the potential to do a lot more better and can run higher-margin versions of Windows. It has decided to start introducing ultra-thin PCs although a little expensive than netbooks around the time when the year comes to an end.

The new Windows 7 has already amassed up to 4% of market shares in the PC industry. Net Applications reports this rise and says that it is a pretty good start for an operating system which is hardly a few weeks old.

It can be mentioned that, in contrast, it took its predecessor – Windows Vista – 7 months to achieve the same target. According to the Executive Vice President of Net Applications, Vince Vizzaccaro, the expectations and the hope to deliver by the new Windows 7 is quite warranted but then he did not make elaborate claims instead choosing to add that a clearer picture of the whole imbroglio will be seen in a few months.

An interesting observation of late, has been, if Microsoft can regain its share. On a regular basis Windows 7 seems to be doing a lot better at weekends. It is generally the time when the consumers use accounts more for the market.

And as the work week starts, the numbers start to dwindle again. Before it was launched on October 22, the daily tracking statistics from Net Applications claim that it was already commanding a 2% market share. The sales of Windows 7 copies were getting the better of those of Windows Vista. Microsoft has also admitted that it foresees strong interest from businesses, although generally corporations take a long time to test a new operating system before it is made to go out in operation. The software giant also spoke on enterprise adoption of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

In yet another development, a feature that evolved out of Microsoft co-operating with computer makers and also its business customers is the addition of an “XP Mode”. This is basically an option that gives the choice to Windows 7 users to start running a cost-free and virtualized copy of Windows XP in order to run the older applications which do not seem to be compatible with the newer operating systems.

If the new Windows 7 operating system goes down well with users, then the latter will have much to thank Vista.

The new Windows 7 has been totally devised and built by improvising on the features that were earlier harbored in Vista. The PC industry took valuable lessons from the Vista and with some co-operation from the consumers through feedbacks ; Microsoft along with other computer makers came up with the standard way for business operating system. With Apple always behind its tail and coming strong, the software giant realized that it was high time for them to also come up with a fabulous operating system.

Windows 7 XP Mode is one of the features of windows 7 which originated from healthy communications between the Redmond company and PC makers. Redmond was subdued by the Vista’s response and when the time came to plan the upcoming version, the fresh new ideas were compiled and discussed with PC makers by Microsoft. This was a new strategy deployed by them, in the past they would simply develop Windows in the dark nd then just pass on the project to another developer without even waiting for a second opinion.

This was what Microsoft always did before Vista when it came to deploying ideas in it’s products and eventually releasing them for retail. However, it wasn’t the same this time.

It donned it’s thinking cap and shared its ideas with PC makers and even sought inputs from engineering teams and computer manufacturers and makers. They addressed all the issues together putting more focus on its designs. Even the changes brought about have not been high-end and they were, in fact, quite discreet than the ones deployed in Vista. The new OS has gone down well with reviewers and testers alike.

The partnership with computer makers has yielded a lot of good for Microsoft. The tie-up have given way to several remarkable features in the new OS, apart from the basic major improvement of making computing tasks easier and a lot simpler to handle. There is now support for iPhone-style touch interfaces as well.

The computer makers also admitted to coming up with innovative ideas to improvise on Microsoft’s new OS. Their fingerprints can be traced all over the product especially from the way it has given due support to touch input. Features that came directly from the computer makers were the ones on Windows 7 Starter. This version was directed towards the Netbook industry.

The CableCARD firmware update devised for the Windows 7 Media Center was released by Microsoft a short while after the launch of the new OS.

This is a pretty good software and serves the purpose of relaxing DRM for recordings in a really massive way and also adds support for SDV. The package came under the caption “ATI Digital Cable Tuner 1.19.12.09050155 firmware”. Anyone with ATI CableCARD tuners via Windows Update can access it.

Microsoft also launched the Digital Cable Advisor tool, which checks if a computer meets minimum hardware requirements for CableCARD viewing/recording. The Digital Cable Advisor is compatible with the Windows Media Center Extras Gallery, measures system CPU speed, RAM, graphics card support for hardware acceleration, and digital connection capabilities.

If these requirements are met, then it makes sure that it enables and fixes the digital cable functionality on a PC. (Note that the CableCARD tuner and connection from your cable company is mandatory and is required at any cost). Once everything is all set up and looks raring to go, one will be able to make good use of the Windows 7 computer’s Media Center HTPC front-end in order to make an access to cable TV, including premium content.

It has only been a while since the Windows 7 Virtual Box 3.0.10 has been released. It includes a change in the way the software works with Intel VT-x and AMD-V visualization technologies.

The change fixes a problem related to the XP compatibility mode in the recently released Windows 7.

In addition, the company gave a face-lift to the Windows 7 installer for Windows hosts and fixed a redraw problem in dual-screen setups on Mac OS X Snow Leopard hosts. Sun added Windows 7 and Mac OS X ‘Snow Leopard’ help in the VirtualBox 2.2, which was launched way back in April. The update also fixes memory leaks, a guest multi-processing bug and USB 2.0 stability problems.

VirtualBox has been crafted to be a low-cost alternative to products such as VMware Workstation, and is used chiefly for development and testing. It enables a programmer to build an application on the desktop using VirtualBox, and then deploy it to a production environment on a virtual server.

Also in April, an announcement was made by Oracle on its intention to buy Sun for $7.4bn (£4.5bn). It followed the buying out a month later with the acquisition of Virtual Iron, a creator of visualization products based on the Xen hyper visor. The Virtual Iron buy created a lot of buzz on the future of Sun’s virtualisation tools under Oracle.

It looks like Windows 7 is pulling back Microsoft to the basics. The new OS from Microsoft is truly resolved to bring about changes by making things a lot simpler and gets to let it stand apart with its remarkable everyday performance. It is quite committed and is leaving no stone unturned with its partners to sell thousands of PCs and copies of Windows 7. It has set high goals for itself. Microsoft is deploying a different strategy from the launch of Vista, which was highlighted by ambitious marketing, however the resulting outcome was a failure and even software and hardware makers were not ready to gamble with Vista.

In the meanwhile Windows 7 offers small changes to the Windows core from Vista, and tries to be more user-friendly to the consumer. The goal with the marketing of Windows 7 has been to leave the responsibility to the product to speak for itself. Another marketing strategy Microsoft had tried with Windows Vista the deployment of an outdoor human billboard.

It was a cold day when this promotion was revealed and it left quite a considerable amount of customers “in the cold”.

It plans an even bigger launch and is hell-bent on getting the product in the view of as many people as possible. There is word for a massive advertising campaign to give more impetus to the product as Windows 7 is key for Microsoft in getting profits from Windows.

Microsoft is getting all busy for the launch events around the world, and the celebration will kickstart in Japan with Windows unit head Steven Sinofsky personally heralding the launch.

Windows 7 so far has been doing a lot better than Vista and is quickly commanding a good share in the computer market. Early reports revealed that the retail box sales of Windows 7 were up by a whopping 234% in comparison to sales of Vista at the same given point of time. A fresh report has now been disclosed by Net Applications that shows that the new Windows 7 has significantly enhanced its share of the overall PC market since its release.

The migration rate among users is much more than the adoption rate of Vista over the same period. Windows 7 has grown 84% in market share when it took Vista nearly about six months to to generate 4 % of the OS market when it was launched. Windows operating systems of all designs own 92.5% of the OS market, a little less than 93.06% that it owned in August 2009. Linux has a hold of 0.96% of the OS market with Mac owning 5.27%.

The software giant is continuously promoting the new operating system with discounts and promotional schemes and partnering up with retailers like Best Buy. It is also trying to make upgrades from operating systems like XP to Windows 7 a lot more simplified because there is no provision for a direct upgrade path between the two operating systems.

Microsoft has claimed that sales of Windows 7 will be attached to the sales of PCs moving ahead, which have plummeted due to the poor economy. All is well; however, PC sales are currently growing with a 95% increase in the weeks before and after Windows 7 was released. This is an area where Vista holds an edge over Windows 7. PC sales soared to 170% after the Vista was released.Microsoft’s marketing investment to support its Windows 7 operating system looks like it has paid off.

Another development is Microsoft’s “Buzz”. It is actually purely a measure to figure out if people have listened to positive or negative statements about the brand, it soared from 5.2 on 9 October to 23.7 in a month. The campaign, featuring a caption “I’m a PC and Windows 7 was my idea”, was released on 22 October. However nothing is still too sure and uncertainty looms large. This resulted with the Buzz rating rose to 10.5, just the day before launch. Microsoft is upbeat to establish Windows 7 as the best thing from its scheme of things before Google launches its operating system Chrome.

Intel Corp is hoping that the launch of Microsoft’s new Windows 7 operating system will push corporate buyers to switch hardware in the coming year. This was disclosed by a company executive. With the new Windows 7 making a robust entry, it will be a factor in corporate computer purchasing. PC market is expected to start moving. Microsoft, whose software holds more than 90 percent of personal computers worldwide, eventually released Windows 7 on October 22, with a hope to woo back customers disappointed by its previous Vista version. Windows 7, until now, is mainly seen in the consumer segment.

Morgan Stanley put a halt over growing optimism among investors and executives that a push in corporate and consumer spending would accelerate chip sales adding that revenue growth could peak in early 2010. Analysts also add that U.S. unemployment, already touching and going beyond 10 percent, would sink consumer sentiment. It is also believed that the load of computers at companies may actually be fresher than four to five years old.

However there were streaks of optimism about a corporate inventory refresh cycle. These cycles cannot be predicted perfectly, but there was a big one in 1999 with the Y2K and the dotcom burst. However in the consumer segment unemployment was not necessarily a dampening factor for computer sales. But it is a harsh reality and there is the need for consumer computers which is increasing. There is a lot of retraining and job-seeking going on every where, people have to be able to deploy 21st-century skills to compete for jobs. It is also observed that sales in emerging economies, particularly in China and in Latin America are growing consistently. Around the same time, the government purchases of computers for education around the world have gone over 20 percent.

Recently chip maker AMD previewed some jazzy Windows 7 PCs to be showcased in January at CES. AMD gave a brief insight of Dell’s Inspiron Zino HD portable home theater, in the meanwhile showcasing an 11.6-inch Acer Ferrari One netbook that is bound to go beyond the Atlantic to US shores in 2010.

Until now, only available in Europe, the netbook features a PCI Express card slot with a target at allowing users connect to an XGP in order to give the gadget the same graphics performance as a desktop system. In yet another situation that AMD predicts, a user will unplug the netbook from the XGP to carry it along to work, and then plug it back later for personal home viewing of HD DVDs. AMD is working on a plan with Acer and several other PC vendors about the prospects of releasing a comparable netbook in the US. This was revealed by John Swinimer, a representative of AMD. It also has in mind both the Zino home theater and Ferrari netbook which is scheduled to come along with Windows 7 netbooks based on the Vision Basic, Premium and Ultimate technologies.

A 17-inch notebook from Toshiba, for instance, provides optional support for both standard and 720p HD graphics. The AMD notebook chips holds Adobe’s 64-bit Flash technology, this is expected to be officially announced soon. New technologies from AMD offload processing from the CPU to the GPU for battery longevity. This is reported from another source according to the AMD executives. It is predicted that within the first six months of 2010, AMD and its PC manufacturing partners will soon be bringing out new Vision Black technologies for desktop computers.

Windows 7 eclipsed 4% of all devices visiting Web sites in a little over two weeks after the commercial launch of the product. It took Windows Vista comparison about seven months to reach 4% after it was introduced to businesses in late 2006. The report doesn’t measure native sales market share for computers, instead counting the various brands of operating systems and other software used by people who make their presence felt in a network of about 40,000 Web sites worldwide. The figures don’t tell whether a Web-site visitor actually paid for a copy of Windows 7, an important consideration when bootlegged copies of Windows are selling for around $3 in markets especially in China. While the application from Amazon.com is given completely free, the content crafted to work with “Kindle for PC” is not. PC users that will have to download and install the application from Kindle books.

Kindle for PC is the right companion application for customers who posses a Kindle or Kindle DX. It is also a remarkable way for people around the world to avail a huge selection from the Kindle Store and read the most popular books of recent times even if they do not have a Kindle. Although Microsoft “Kindle for PC” is custom-made for Windows 7, the application is also been re-structured to play along with Windows Vista and Windows XP. But “Kindle for PC” on top of Windows 7 has the ability to enjoy the multi-touch capabilities, particularly of the operating system, and actually skim through the pages using their bare hands.

Nearly 50,000 pirated DVDs of Microsoft Windows 7 are said to have been sold in India since the official launch on October 22, generating unaccounted business of nearly $100,000.

The DVDs cost Rs.40-Rs.250 in Naza Market in Hazratganj in India, attracting buyers from not only the rest of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand but also Nepal and Bangladesh.

A shopkeeper in Hazratganj said that this is the largest market in the region and claimed that at least 50,000 DVDs of the pirated Windows 7 have been sold since coming to the local markets within 24 hours of the official launch, generating nearly Rs.50 lacs so far for the sellers.

The legal edition of the new OS launched by Microsoft Corp costs between $150-$300 in the global markets. However, Microsoft tagged its prices 20 percent below international rates in India, where it is available in the Rs.6,000-Rs.11,000 range through official channels. Despite the discounted company rates, buyers are going for the pirated version.

A student pursuing a Master of Computer Applications course asks why invest Rs.10,000 when it is available for Rs.250?.

Mohit Singh, who runs a computer hardware and software maintenance company, added that we pay for only the DVD as we are regular customers. A DVD barely costs Rs.20-40.

A software engineer with HCL Technologies in Greater Noida contend that most of the computer service providers or “regular customers” in Lucknow and elsewhere in India tap pirated software.

He said that what makes the pirated operating systems more lucrative is that cheap pirated anti-virus software is also freely available.

Kumar added that a lot of anti-virus software, for example Awast, is available on the Internet, claiming that it was equally effective and has the same service life.

Those in pirated Windows 7 business deny doing anything illegal. A shopkeeper not willing to be named said that there are over 200 shops in Naza Market. All have everything you want. They are not doing anything illegal as everything is available on the Internet, he said.

Software Giant, Microsoft has teamed up with the creator of the popular animated television series ‘Family Guy’ Seth MacFarlane to produce a 30-minute show on Windows 7.

Microsoft seems to be innovating and re-inventing new ways to publicize its new operating system, Windows 7. This time, taking an inspiration from the success of a television variety show hosted by Milton Berlie in the 1950s; it will be teaming up with ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane to produce and sponsor a show on Fox Network. While the inspiration was based from Texas Star Theater and its success, the show to be aired by Fox will be a 30-minute program scheduled to be aired in November.

The deal has been sealed between the two parties and Fox will air the show without any commercial breaks. The show promises to stress on the features of the uniquely branded Windows 7 programming with seamless blending with the show’s content. MacFarlane has also roped Alex Borstein, his ‘Family Guy’ co-star, and the show will include witty references to Windows in jokes, songs and cartoons. The show title has been worked up and is called “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show.”

It is not certain how much Microsoft would be paying for the privilege. However, if a report from Fast Company last year is to be believed, than a 30-second spot on ‘Family Guy’ comes at a cost of $ 200,000. And, Microsoft is taking a whole 30-minute show. There will be some spending from the part of Microsoft from this publicity stunt.

Microsoft has been quiet about its plans for Windows Mobile 7, but Microsoft could launch the long-awaited mobile operating system next year.

A new product called Office Mobile 2010 is described as a “mobile companion” for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote and SharePoint in a presentation shown to partners. Microsoft has said that Office Mobile 2010 will run on Windows Mobile 7 and Windows Mobile 7 will be launched to manufacturing in early 2010.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer’s has said that Microsoft would ship Windows Mobile 7 sometime in early 2010. Also, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha has said that Motorola will focus on Windows Mobile at the time of Windows Mobile 7 launch.

Windows Mobile 6.5 was launched by Microsoft in May 2009 but the devices with Windows Mobile 6.5 were not available until October 2009. Windows Mobile 6.5 includes features such as Touch-Screen user interface and navigation.

Some of the Microsoft partners have been unhappy with Windows Mobile 6.5 and they are hoping that Microsoft can deliver a better mobile operating system than Windows Mobile 6.5. One partner of Microsoft has said that everyone is trying to hold their breath for Windows Mobile 7.

Windows Mobile 7 devices won’t arrive until spring 2010 unless Microsoft finds some way to speed up the time between RTM and devices hitting store shelves and that could cause Microsoft to come down further back in the Smartphone market.

Windows 7 allows you to customize more options than any previous versions of Windows. It allows you to take control over annoying pop-up system messages, and also you can home brew “search connectors” that lets you run web searches directly from Windows Explorer.

Although some of these options require a third-party software to be installed on the system, but all these softwares are available free and are easy to use. So, by adding some personal customization touches, you can make a good OS even better.

You can change the Log-on Screen’s Wallpaper and make it a lovely log-on screen. Only thing that you need is the Tweaks.com Logon Changer for Windows 7 which is a free utility that lets you turn any image into your log-on screen background.

Firstly, you need to download and install the program. Now start the program, click Change Logon Screen and then navigate to the folder containing the image. Logon Changer will offer to copy and resize it as Windows limits image size to 245KB. You can preview it at full-screen size by clicking Test once the new background is in place. Click Revert to Default Logon Screen If you want the old wallpaper back.

Tweak the User Interface

It is Microsoft utility that lets you fine-tune the Windows interface. From changing what appears in the Start menu to optimizing performance by disabling various Windows features, Ultimate Windows Tweaker provides a king’s ransom in customizing the controls. If you are bored of Window’s automatically rebooting after an unattended system update then you can turn off that option using UWT. No more warnings when you are about to close multiple tabs because UWT even lets you customize Internet Explorer 8 settings.

You can reach many of the same settings by digging into the other areas of Windows 7. It is a must-have tool if you are a serious Windows tweaker.

Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel, speaks out on the increasing debate between notebook PCs and Netbooks which will have an impact on the adoption of Windows 7 in business.

In a recently concluded Intel earning conference call; Ottelini spoke his mind on the debate and gave the impression that its mainstream notebook business has an edge over the Netbook business. He supported this claim over a comparison in the sequential unit growth rate of notebook processors and chipsets over the growth rate of Atom processors and chipsets. While maintaining and accepting the fact that Atom and Netbook are equally important growth drivers, he however stressed on the point that notebooks have been the primary source of revenue growth and it will continue to do so in the near future.

He added that while Netbooks have seen considerable growth and the growth-rate is bound to further rise in 2010 over 2009, the flourishing market of notebooks will not be affected. In fact, he classifies Netbooks under the ancillary product category and not a mainstream product. For Intel and the industry, Netbooks serve as a “market-additive”, said the chief.

The suave CEO then gave his views on the new stock of ultrathin laptops which comes cheap and are priced anywhere between $500 and $900. He also made an emphasis on his company’s initiative to start shipping dual-core version products from the late last quarter. It may be mentioned that prior to this move, all units were shipped in single-core versions till date. He then finally took a dig at the Windows 7 adoption in business in a response to a query from an analyst. He highlighted the fact that a lot of corporations has generated interests around Windows 7 and also on the new Nehalem-based PC models.

The latter was a reference to Intel’s recently launched Nehalem-based Core ‘i’ series which is a series of processors. He brought to the fore the compatibility between these two in terms of performance and power management and security characteristics, citing that they were “made for each other”.
He hoped to expect the evaluation process of the corporate Windows 7 to be completed over the rest of the year to enable corporate purchases from the next year.

The PC tune-up developers reveal that Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 7, starts up much slower than Windows Vista and its booting speed tends to go slower with time. This statement contradicts the statement made by Microsoft company.

The Los Angeles maker of PC software, iolo Technologies, contradict Microsoft’s claim by remarking that Windows 7 doesn’t boot faster. Corresponds to iolo tests, Windows 7 boots 42% slower than its predecessor, the company also reveals the study result on a brand new machine – Windows 7 take one minute 34 seconds whereas one minute six seconds is taken by Windows Vista to boot up. It seems that Windows 7 boot faster but iolo measured the startup with a low load on the fully usable computer.

Microsoft stated that they have devoted significant resources to make Windows 7 boot and regain from the sleep and hibernation faster than Vista, after they got severe criticism in 2007 for Windows Vista starting slowly. PC World, a sister publication of Computerworld also measured the new operating system, Windows 7, against Windows Vista and reported that Windows 7 boots 10% slower than Vista in case of 32-bit version and boots 14% faster on 64-bit, when compared.

The statement released by iolo also states that the booting time for new operating system tends to degrade over time like windows Vista. After many commonly based applications have been installed in Windows 7 box, its startup time increases to two minutes, 34 seconds which is an increase of about 64%. Over the time, Windows 7 will respond much slower. And by the end of two years, the startup time for Windows 7 would increase to 330%.

Apple took some criticism last month for flicking the iPhone Configuration Utility to Windows users who have the Apple Updater Software installed. The software was completely useless for computer users and to those who don’t even own iPhones. In the way, this underscores a basic defect that Windows allow third-party software updates to run indiscriminately on people’s computers. Universal Updater application Windows 7 is the solution which provides a control on how software developers push updates to users.

There is no cause that we need to have particular updater applications for Windows, Java, Apple, Adobe, McAfee and others. All we really need is one application that can manage updates to all the software. Also, it could allow users to configure what types of updates are permitted, how applications get updated, how notifications appear and when the updates are allowed to occur.

The universal updater used by software developers, would need to agree to a policy governing how the application is to be used. If the user doesn’t wants a update or hasn’t requested it then they need to be prevented from these secretly deploying application. It means that there should not be unwanted demos of other applications or browser toolbars. The software developers who violate this policy would have their updates blocked.

Although Cleaner is a great utility which, amongst other features, provides a single location for deleting all startup items, it is tedious to remove updaters from various startup locations and it also defeats the utility of having up to date applications. A universal updater application would solve this problem, would allow some control to the user and also keep all the applications up to date.

There might be a few barriers to implement a Universal Updater, but it is also not easy to get software developers to agree to use it. However, doing so would provide a relief to computer users and would make Windows 7 a cleaner platform.

Windows 7 has built-in support for multi-touch capabilities and is soon going to make this screen-based system much more mainstream. The user can access the screen by simply pressing it. Just press the screen and it will display Simple Tap interface. Using your finger, access the screen is the simple way of doing things.

Tablet PCs and HP is the line of TouchSmart desktops that marks the beginning for touch. Something new is introduced in both Windows 7 and Lenovo’s custom software. In Windows 7, the software is Lenovo’s specific. Lenovo’s Thinkpad 400s with a multi-touch screen and Windows 7 found to be form good combination. Lenovo’s touch interface provides you with the control of the basic hardware and turning on or off the speaker, microphone etc would be far more easier.

Lenovo states that now it would be possible for the companies to create their own “touch icons and applications”. Instead of seeing the traditional cursor, the symbol like a drop of the water would appear on the screen and the user can navigate through the system simply by dragging the finger within the window. And, to move on to the next page you just require to press the link to move on to the next page. All these features can be accessed with the single press on the screen and they function mostly the same as they function on the earlier HP TouchSmart.

But the most capturing features are those that use multi-touch is by dragging two fingers apart, you can change the size and display of the icons in an Explorer Window. Some touch based games such as Blackboard, Rebound and Garden have also been introduced in it.

Though touch screen features are intuitive but they can’t be a substitute for a mouse and the keyboard in many cases. Many other multi-touch laptops are going to be out soon, including HP’s TouchSmart TX2z and the Fujitsu LifeBook T5010, as well as Lenovo’s well-reviewed Thinkpad X200 convertible tablet.

Windows 7 can be titled as the “Best OS.”

It is going to erase the blot that Vista left. With all the rumors going in the environment I was quite skeptical when I got the RTM CD and slipped it into the optical drive of my two year old Compaq V3000. Its robustness, speed and overall look are amazing. In fact Windows 7 provides better GUI in comparison with Vista; hence we can say it is an evolution of Vista. Microsoft has listened to its customers and tweaked every portion of the OS that needed to be optimized with the result that, for the first time in its history, it has an OS that is widely deployable without having to wait for the first service pack.

Windows 7 boots, shuts down and resumes faster than Vista did. Unlike its predecessor, the OS comes pre-tuned and it runs only what’s needed; making it a svelte OS that can run in memory configurations comparable to XP while providing a modern GUI and all the additional features that Microsoft had added in Vista. If you want to migrate from Vista to Windows 7, then the existing driver will be compatible. The next thing is Compatibility Mode, suppose if, you are not able to run any earlier program due to loss of compatibility then don’t be hopeless. You can run that program from Compatibility Mode.
One of the major concern today is regarding security of our data. In this field Windows 7 has brought some innovative tools like:

BitLocker: It caps your data from hackers or theft.
How can you help protect your data from loss, theft, or hackers? BitLocker keeps a security lock on your documents, it keep everything in encrypted form on external drive . You are even safe if you have misplaced your portable storage devices like USB flash drives and external drives.

Direct Access: In the corporate world lots of energy is spent on building Virtual private networks, now Windows 7 brings the Direct Access to save your time and energy. It commits secure connection to remote client without dealing with VPNs. This is quite innovative gift to mobile user and sufficient reason for switching to Windows 7.

AppLocker: Now corporate has a good management over their software. It will inhibit any unauthorized access to any program. Ordinary users will not be able to install new programs however they can run it. It enables organization to keep a track on their user; if they are involved in malpractice such as playing with settings designed for Internet Explorer. AppLocker addresses this problem and lets IT centrally configure who can run which application. AppLocker checks each program against corporate policies when a user tries to start it. Though it can be difficult to implement in a large organization, IT can get some immediate benefits by rolling AppLocker out to highly managed workstations.

Thus we can see Windows 7 will bring harmony and peace of mind for both personal user and business user.

Michael Dell thinks Windows 7 is the next best thing that has happened to PCs and denounces to rise of Netbooks.

At a Churchill Club sponsored dinner in Silicon Valley, the Dell founder and CEO, Michael Dell made a bold statement at a flurry of questions directed at the rise of Netbooks. The suave businessman was not in a particular mood to embrace the rise of Netbooks and added that the size of the screens in Netbooks is a big deterrence to customers. He noted that a good amount of customers were not impressed with smaller-screens and lower-performance parts in Netbooks. Certainly, these remarks come as a bit of a surprise since Dell promotes and sells a line of Netbooks in its official website.

However, he sang a different tune for Windows 7 and was more enthusiastic towards this new operating system from Microsoft. He quipped on the prospects of getting the latest processor technology coupled with Windows and Office 2010. This, he said would be the best recipe to woo all erstwhile, loyal PC lovers back. The CEO also predicted on the status of Windows operating systems and added that with large computer bases still running Windows XP, the launch of Windows 7 and with inputs from Intel chips would lead to a “a very powerful refresh cycle.”

At the dinner, he was also asked a question on what his biggest mistake as an executive had been. He promptly answered that it was his folly to stick to the success strategy of his company by cashing in on the benefits of its direct sales models and not digressing his business prospects to other areas. However, he added that his company was in a transitional phase and it is bent on capitalizing on other various aspects like hardware, IT services and solutions.

Microsoft plans to deliver much with its new OS Windows 7 with little profit margins for hardware manufacturers.
In what could be a move that could drive profit margins to new bottoms for hardware manufacturers, Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 7, with its smaller footprint and also with its ability to be more adept at memory handling could be targeted at the new netbook market.

Prices of portable computers are at an all-time low and the entry of netbooks, which come small and light with low-cost prices, is not something new anymore now. And Windows 7, which comes in innovating types of Linux-based portables, could make a deeper dent into the hardware manufacturers market.
It surely looks bleak for the hardware manufacturers market with increasing pressure to sell products over $800 as becoming more tougher. There is a wide margin in the price of a notebook and a netbook. And, by market trends, it looks like the latter dominates over the former. In addition, the new netbooks, along with its cheap price, come loaded with Windows 7. This surely entails a steep decline in the revenue of OEMs and with upto an 11% decrease, which has been an outcome of the growth propensity of licenses which have been an offshoot of high Netbook PC sales, there will surely be a lot of thinking and mustering up to do for the hardware manufacturers.

Windows 7 may be fresh but the users are still confused whether to upgrade to Windows 7 or not but it seems that Microsoft has started considering Windows 8. Microsoft website shows that Windows 8 has already been initiated.

Ars Technia spotted a job vacancy listed on 8 October is looking for a Senior Program Manager who can bring forward new features into Windows 8. A day later a second posting is listed which asks for a Principle Lead Program Manager who might be responsible for coordinating a closer integration of Windows Live Mail into the new operating system. Moreover, two other job vacancies which asked for software engineers for the new operating system.

It’s great that Microsoft isn’t resting and planning for something better but it is also annoying to think that Windows 7 has the stuff to improve upon. We can expect more details on Windows 8 only after Microsoft begins to reveal about in coming months.

Nokia has rolled out its booklet through Best Buy stores along with the release of Windows 7.

The Nokia Booklet 3G comes loaded with Windows 7 after the the operating system’s 7 release . It comes at a subsidized price, $299 with an added 2 year data plan from telecommunication giants, AT & T. It will be made available at all Best Buy stores across the US. This announcement from the Finnish phone maker comes with a relief for customers. When the product was first disclosed in September, it was priced at an astonishing $820. This was quite an exorbitant sum as Netbooks comes for less than $500 these days.

One can also notice that Nokia has a tie-up with AT&T for a two-year service agreement which gives more feasibility to the subsidized price. There are offers coming from Best Buy as well. It plans to come up with the unique ‘Walk Out Working’ scheme, which will enable the customer to get his product activated and working before he leaves the store. For anyone who purchases the Booklet 3G, sales associates will configure and activate the Netbook. Nokia has kept the screen size at 10.1-inch and its Netbook has almost all the features that are available on Netbooks. It has an Atom processor, a built-in GPS, a 12-hour battery life, an aluminum casing, 3G and Wi-Fi wireless capability and height and weight specifics of 1 inch and 2.5 pounds.

There are added features on the Netbook such as Nokia Music for PC and Nokia’s Ovi Suite 2.0. There is also an aggregator coming from the feeds from social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook etc. with its Ovi Maps and Social Hub application. Customers can also get the notebook without the option of opting for the two-year service agreement from AT&T. This option, however, comes for the an unsubsidized price of $599.
