Unwanted System SoundBy disabling sound effects your PC can gain some speed and free some system resources too.

Problem: In order to play the sounds you listen in windows 7,  Windows utilize system resources.

Solution: Follow the given instructions in order to perform this task:

STEP 1. Type mmsys.cpl in RUN from the  Startmenu search box and hit Enter.

STEP 2. Click on the Sound  tab.

STEP 3. Next, from under Sound Scheme select No Sounds and  click Apply then OK.

STEP 4. You can keep few of your favorite sounds turned on if you want, but sounds played during the Windows 7 start up, shutdown, Logon, logoff, start navigation etc should be turned off,  if you want some real speed boost.

I set system sound to No Sound and it worked well for about two weeks. Now, despite the fact that No Sound remains in place, some processes are being met with sounds. It really is quite annoying.

Ditto! It’s set to ‘No Sounds’ here, but I’m still hearing clicks when I select folders etc.
