I want to install Windows 7 on my computer. But everytime I insert the Windows 7 CD into CD drive, it prompts for CD key.

Yes, you will need a product key to install Windows 7 from CD. You can get product key from Microsoft’s website.
It depends. If your are using an OEM disk (for already installed OS) to install Windows then the installation does not prompt you for the key. But it is required if you have a Retail disk (purchased from a store)
