Remove shortcuts arrows in Windows 7
By Shweta,Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 ShareWhen you install a software on your Windows 7 computer, you will see a shortcut icon for that application. A point that you have noted in the shortcut icon is that a small arrow head is shown on the shortcut icon. If you want to remove or modify that shortcut arrow in the Windows 7, it can be done by following any one of the following two methods.

First Method:
You have to download the “blank_icon.zip” file form the the following link: http://cid-57932f70ebe665eb.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/blank%5E_icon.zip, and then extract the file blank.ico.
Let us use C:\Icons\blank.ico as the path to the icon file. After this follow the below mentioned steps:
- Click on Start button, type regedit.exe and then press enter.
- After this step navigate the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\explorer\Shell Icons.
- In the right pane , you have to make a new string value named 29.
- Then, double click on 29, and then set its value data to C:\Icons\blank.ico
- After completing the above procedure, close the regedit.exe and then restart your computer.
Second Method:
There is an another method for removing or modifying the shortcut arrow from the shortcut icon in the Windows 7 PC.
