Importing e-mail addresses

If the users having an existing address book in the Contact List of any e-mail program plan to shift to a new e-mail program;  they fear that their existing address book will be lost. But here in this article, we will explain how they can easily import the addresses to the latest program’s Contact List with the Windows Live Mail. This application is supported by Windows Live Essentials.

Simply perform the following steps:

- Launch Windows Live Mail by clicking on Start,  then All Programs, after this click on Windows Live and then finally click on the Windows Live Mail. After this, open the Windows Live Contacts window by selecting the Contacts button in its Navigation pane.
- Then click on the Menus drop-down button on the toolbar, after this click on the Import item in the Menus drop-down menu and then pick out the type of address book file you want to import. You can pick from the options available in the sub menu of the list box, its options are like Windows Address Book, Business Card, Microsoft Office Outlook Address Book, Address Book for Current Windows User and so on.
Import Email Addresses
- After this, select the specific fields you want to include, browse for the file and then choose the fields to apply before you select the Finish button. Windows shows a Contacts Import dialog box that displays you the advancement of the contacts that are imported.
- When Windows Live Mail has completed with the importing of the names and e-mail addresses of all the contacts in the existing address book, close the Contacts Import dialog box by clicking out its OK button to come back to the Windows Live Contacts window. Now, you can view the icons of all the contacts in the Contacts window. If you want to view the additional information like business and home phone numbers then click on the Menus button and then pick out the List from its drop-down menu.
