Microsoft® and Acer® team up to deliver a Windows® 7 laptop
By Jyoti,Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 ShareMicrosoft has entered the hardware industry and teamed up with Acer to design a Windows 7 laptop created according to Windows 7 specifications. It is speculated that the laptop comes after the arch-rival Apple launched Apple multi touch-screen tablet.
Microsoft’s president of Windows and Windows Live, Steven Sinofsky has been promoting the advanced features of Windows 7 to various hardware developers like Sony. His aim is to make people familiar about the new API’s in Windows 7 and improve user experience with it. Sinofsky said that during the building of Windows 7, they were curious to be associated with making of a hardware.
Microsoft and Acer have been working in association since past three months and had come up with the so called “Tablet PC – Microsoft PDC Edition”. Sinfosky said that the laptop was not much focused on industrial design rather it was an attempt to make developers familiar about the new API’s in Windows 7. It is a low-price way to do that. He also said that during the making of Windows 7 Acer laptop, Microsoft learned a lot about hardware, touchscreen and the difficulty associated in its production.
The laptop is loaded with office 2010 and visualization software and is called as the device for the developers. It is the Windows 7PDC laptop said Sinfosky.
The laptop specifications and price for the general public is yet not revealed to public. However both Microsoft and Acer are delighted to develop the device and gave it a grand launch by distributing it free to the 5000 delegates present in the launching ceremony of the Windows 7 Acer Laptop.
