Windows 7 RepairDo you have a problem with installed Windows 7? You can go for its reinstallation, which is also called as repair installation, of Windows 7 using the Windows Setup program. Repair installation is not as same as clean installation. People generally go for a repair option, if they want to preserve user accounts, data, programs and system drivers.

Follow the given instructions to perform a Windows 7 repair installation:

STEP 1. Log in to Windows 7 as an administrator.
STEP 2. Disable any security product, such as antivirus or firewall program. These might create hindrance during the repair process.
STEP 3.Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in to the DVD drive. Run Windows 7 setup either through Auto-play Windows or locate the installation DVD and double click on Setup.exe.
STEP 4. Now, click on the “Install Now” option to initiate the installation.
STEP 5. Uncheck “I want to help make Windows installation better box”. Click on the “Go online” to get the latest updates for installation option.
STEP 6. Setup will search online to load any available installation updates.
STEP 7. Look for “I accept” the license terms” box and accept it. Then click on Next.
STEP 8. Click on “Upgrade” option. Now the installation of Windows 7 will start.
STEP 9. Next. enter your Windows 7 serial key.
STEP 10. Now, click on the “Use recommended settings”.
STEP 11. Set your Time Zone, Time and Date setting and click on the Next button.
STEP 12. Click on the option for your computer’s location to select the correct network location type setting that has to be applied for the location.
STEP 13. Now Windows 7 prepares your desktop to startup.
STEP 14. Sit tight, it’s not over yet. Now you need to ensure that you are not missing any user file.
STEP 15. If some files are missing, copy those from the hidden protected operating system- C:\$INPLACE.~TR and C:\WINDOWS.~Q folders.

Important: Do a repair installation if and only if:

• A System restore failed to fix Windows 7.
• There is no other way left that can fix your Windows 7.
• You want to avoid clean installation.
• You want to preserve your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers.

If you have these scripting engines registered under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, you need to make sure that you remove that registration and re-register them under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. You can use the following steps to unregister them from HKEY_CURRENT_USER:

1. Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK
2. To unregister the VBScript engine, run this command: reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f
