Get a much faster Windows 7 install with USB 2.0 Flash Drive.

Problem:

The conventional way of installing an operating system, in this case the Windows 7, has been through a DVD installation. However, if you look at things from another angle, it is much slower to install an OS  with a DVD.

Solution:

The only thing you need in hand to enable this is to have a high-speed USB 2.0 flash drive with a recommended minimum storage space of 4GB. They are easily available and also come for a cheap price.

Proceed as follows:

Now to start initiating some settings for the installation, one will have to be ready with the USB thumbdrive in order to cling on to Windows OS installation files. Once this is done, move on to the next by clicking on the Start Tab and typing “cmd” (command) in the Run field box.

A window should open with a command prompt and at this point, type “diskpart”. Automatically, a new disk part will crop up. From here the process gets a little complicated as a lot of commands and prompts have to be typed and entered. The confusing part is with the terminologies and one has to be really careful while typing them, as a wrong command will bring everything to a halt and one will have to start all over again.

On the new disk, type “list disk”. This will show all the disk drives located in your computer. Now the next part will be to find the number of the USB drive used to initiate this installation. Type “select disk (with the USB number)”, when this selection has been completed, type the following three commands in order - Clean, Create partition primary and select primary partition. All these have to be activated now by clicking on “active”.

After this, “formatfs=fat32quick” and type assign. This will bring an end to all the complications on types and commands. At this stage it is important to remember again that the commands should be typed with accuracy and precision with no margin for error at all.

Finally, it is time now to nail the installation process. This can be done by copying the Windows installation files from the ISO format file to the USB drive. To open the file, you will need a WinRAR file and copy all installation files to the USB thumb drive. Plug the USB device into the USB port of the computer wherein the operating system will be installed into. After this, one will have to configure the computer BIOS in order to boot it from the USB thumb drive.

Configure the computers BIOS to boot from your USB thumb drive. This completes your installation of Windows 7 using a USB 2.0 Flash Drive.
