Internet Browser: AOL 9.0 VR

What’s the Issue: For migrating from Windows XP — which is close to 70% of desktops today — to Windows 7, consumers will require a ‘clean’ install of the new operating system. Users will need to re-install their popular browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, AOL, Internet Explorer and others and potentially lose the bookmarks and history of their favorite places on the Internet.

Why Do It: Keep using the browser that you are familiar with and migrate your bookmarks and history of your favorite places on the Internet. Follow these easy steps to re-install AOL and migrate your bookmarks and favorites when you upgrade to Windows 7.

Follow these easy steps to take a backup of bookmarks and favorites from the AOL browser:

STEP 1: Open AOL Mail and click the Tools button located at the top of the window. Once the Tools menu opens, select Options.

STEP 2: Highlight the messages and then select the appropriate email client from the Select Program window.

STEP 3: Click the Maintenance tab in the Options menu and then select Store Folder. After that, you will need to select the folder location and hit Ctrl + C to copy the folder’s path name. Next, close out of the dialog box by clicking Cancel twice.

STEP 4: Click the Start button located at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Once the Start menu opens, click Run. Click the text field and hit Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste the previously copied location. Click OK to display the content of the location.

STEP 5: Select the Edit button at the top of the screen and click Select All. After doing that, click Edit again and select Copy. Close the window.

STEP 6: Next, create a folder on your hard drive that will contain the backed up data. Provide it a suitable name.

STEP 7: Do a clean installation of Windows 7 on your system.

STEP 8: AOL can be downloaded for free from its website. Hold down the Ctrl button, then press k. This will open the keyword box. Type in AOL 9.0 and hit “Enter.” Now download and install the AOL 9.0VR with the help of installation wizard.

STEP 9: Now, if you want to import the back up do the reverse of export as: Browse AOL Mail and select “File,” “Import,” “Import Internet Mail Account Settings.” Select AOL Mail  as the client to import. Click “Next” and then select the account to “Import.”
