With older versions of Windows OS, it was not possible to take remote of High Definition video from server. Windows 7 has an enhanced Remote Application and has introduced a feature called Windows 7 Desktop Connections that allows you to access programs and desktops remotely. You can access all the programs and computers that you would normally need to be at work to use from your computer at home.

You can access all of data located in one easily accessible folder on your computer. It is as easy as though they were on your home computer or on your local network.

New Enhancements

The Windows 7 Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) enhancements are as follows:

*Support to Windows 7 Aero

*Support to Direct 2D & Direct 3D 10.1 application

*Support to True multi-monitor

*Improvements in RDP Core Performance

*Support to Media Foundation

*Support to DirectShow

*Support to Low Latency audio playback

*Support to Bi-directional audio

DirectX and Direct 2D

The ‘10 on 9′ feature of Windows 7 RDP allows to use DirectX 9 on the servers that do not have a DirectX 10 card installed and it works very well.

DirectX and DirectX 3D

Windows 7 RDP has the ability for the server to send commands to the Remote Desktop Client and have those commands executed by the local client.Windows 7 RDP can remote a 1080p high definition (HD) video from a Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Services and Microsoft has proved that this High definition remote not through virtual GPUs but by sending codes from the server to the client, the commands are executed on the local client’s graphics cards which is called “RDP Client Rendering”. This part is priceless to anyone who has been doing server-based computing, remote computing, terminal services. But, here a problem arises that the applications that run through Windows Media Player will take advantage of client-side rendering, so Microsoft commented that in the future it will develop other graphics version to move from a host rendering solution to a client rendering model.
