Windows 7 Media Center, Microsoft never disappoints its users when it comes to entertainment. Windows 7 media center offers slick interfaces and powerful audio-video features. Though these features can only be experienced if your system is Cable Card compatible, for full HD over cable.

New details Menu

This new menu pops up every time when you select a song, album, picture or video for playback. You can select a song from the album on the first menu, in the secondary actions menu, you get option like Burn a CD/DVD.

Pictures and slide show creator

Now with the help of slide show creator, you can choose the pictures you want for a slide show on the fly. If you move into the Picture Library, then select slide shows from the sub-menu, you can have a new list that puts you in control of the photos in your slide show.

Improved video playing menu

The on-screen context menu has also been redesigned. One thing Microsoft found with Media Center is how to use a gradual fade as a transition between menus and content in their UI. To experience the new Now Playing bar, just use the left-right keys to move through the options at hand. This is what I say mind blowing.

Watch photos while listening to music

While enjoying music, if you choose to Play Photos, it will start a slide show of sorts, that arranges your pictures into a big wall, then pans and zooms through the lot, fading in from gray-scale to a full color view.

Connecting media center with Xbox

Connecting Media Center to Xbox is not a pain. You run Media Center on your Xbox, and if you haven’t configured it as an extender with another machine already, it will prompt you if you want to add one, then provide you an 8 digit number. Next, you navigate to settings in Windows 7 Media Center and select Add extender and plug in that number. The setup process will initiate, and congratulations, you got Media Center on your Xbox.
