WindowsVista vs Windows 7
In Windows Vista, the gadgets are contained in the sidebar. In Windows 7, you can drag items from the sidebar to the desktop and arrange them however you see fit. A goal for the Window 7 Gadget platform was to keep the option open for compatibility with Windows Vista. This allows software developers to keep making products and applications for both Vista and Windows 7.
Another improvement that we touched on earlier is the customization of your desktop. In Vista, you had to keep your gadgets in the sidebar. In Windows 7 you get the option to drag them from the sidebar to the desktop. You can drag them together, and they will snap together to make your desktop look better and to maintain organization. There is another couple of options that need mentioning. One is the management of your gadgets. There are options in Windows 7 that will allow you to either hide or show your gadgets. If you want to show or hide your gadgets its as simple as a few clicks of your mouse. On the desktop menu, click view and then check or uncheck the Show Desktop Gadgets option. People that use their laptops can utilize the power saving options that this provides.
Performance Enhancers
Performance is of the utmost importance, so Windows 7 allows for easy management of your sidebar. In Windows Vista, the sidebar has numerous processes of sidebar.exe. That is the executable file that starts up the sidebar. In Windows 7 there is only one sidebar.exe. This process starts when the computer starts up, the process is started manually, or when a new user sign in that have gadgets on the desktop.
