Printing Web pages from Internet Explorer 8
By Sanjiv,Friday, November 13th, 2009
You may come across a page you would like to print when browsing Web pages in Windows 7 Internet Explorer 8. Windows 7 Internet Explorer 8 not only makes it very easy to print the Internet pages that you go to see, but also provides you to preview the printout before you give a printing command to your printer.
The Print Preview toolbar at the top of this window has some important buttons for changing the view of the Internet pages in the preview window:
-
Turn headers and footers On and Off from the menu or by pressing Alt+E on your keyboard turns off and on the display of any headers and/or footers you specify for the printout in the Page Setup dialog box.
-
To view Full Width, you need to press Alt+W on your keyboard which adjusts the magnification of the existing page so that it fills the full width of the Print Preview window.
-
Print Document or Alt+P on your keyboard prints the Internet page (s) previewed in the Print Preview window using the current settings.
-
To change the Print Size, you can press Alt+S on your keyboard which shrinks or stretches the printout of the pages a particular percentage of its actual size. This percentage is between 30% and 200% or a Custom setting. You can also use the ‘Shrink To Fit’ default setting to have Windows 7 Internet Explorer 8 automatically make all the content fit on the number of pages chosen in the Show Multiple Pages drop-down list.
-
Portrait or Alt+O on your keyboard displays the printed page in portrait mode, which prints text across the shorter edge of the paper in lines running down the longer edge.
-
Landscape or Alt+L on your keyboard displays the page in landscape mode, which prints text across the longer edge of the paper in lines running down the shorter edge.
-
Page Setup or Alt+U on your keyboard opens the Page Setup dialog box, where you can change paper size and source, add a header and specify the top, bottom, left and right margins and footer for the printout.
-
To view Full Page, you can press Alt+1 on your keyboard which adjusts the magnification of the page preview so that the full length of the existing page fits within the Print Preview window.
-
To show Multiple Pages, you can press Alt+N on your keyboard which switches among 1-Page View which is the default, 2-Page View, 3-Page View, 6-Page View, and 12-Page View settings that determine the number of pages over which Windows 7 Internet Explorer 8 spreads the printed contents of the existing Web page.

I have an issue trying to print a page from IE8, 64bit, on my Win7 Laptop. My HP printer has the latest 64 bit drivers installed. All other programs print fine….just not web pages. When I switch to the 32 bit version of IE8, all web pages print OK.
Any ideas or known issues?
hi
contacted canon regarding my query to which they replied;-
We can confirm that you are no longer able to select specific pages say pages 3 and 8 from a 10 page document and print only these pages in the Easy-Web-Print after you have updated your internet browser . There could be other solutions for this issue provided by the Operating`s System or Internet browsers manufacturers. We are unable to provide any further information .For further information contact the Operating Systems or Internet browsers manufacturers.
I have no problems using this feature with my ver 6 on both Epson and Canon other than when when all the web pages are diplayed via the canon Easy-Web Print there is no check boxe beneath each page to select/deselect that page for printing . Contacted canon (who have been very helpful and quick to reply ) who informed that updating my canon version 2.5 to 2.6.4.1 would solve this issue and provide the required check box for each page.
So I will stay with int/exp ver 6 ( since I use this feature quite a lot ) until there is an update to ver 7(and possible 8 ) which will provide this facility.
all the best
brian
